Sailor, Helmsman, Captain

Is sailing on inland waterways in your blood? Are you also looking for a versatile job in inland shipping? We are looking for experienced people who are used to working on the water. For one of our clients we are looking for candidates for various positions: Sailors, Helmsmen and Captains. You mainly work on the same boat in a fixed team. Work schedule 3-6 weeks on and 3 weeks off. Sailing area: The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Sailor/matrose 
As a matrose you assist the helmsman or skipper with all work on a ship. The work depends on the type of ship you are sailing on and the cargo it carries. You perform further maintenance such as minor repairs, rust-free, sanding, painting and deck scrubbing. But also securing and unfastening the ship is part of your duties.

Helmsman
As a helmsman, you take care of mooring and unmooring and assist with loading and unloading. In addition, you are sometimes responsible for the functioning and checking of the engines. You also carry out maintenance work on the ship. In addition, you may steer the ship under the responsibility of a skipper or captain.

Captain
As a captain you have the same duties as the skipper, but you also have an entrepreneurial diploma. You make independent decisions about business operations and you have final responsibility for personnel and organisation.

What do we expect from you?

• Valid Service Book → Mandatory!
• English and/or German language at intermediate level 
• Experience in inland Shipping

Your activities look like this:

• Mooring of the ship
• Preparing the ship for departure
• Assist in loading and unloading the ship
• Checking the functioning of the engines and aids on board
• Carrying out maintenance work and repairs on board
• Driving the ship under the responsibility of the skipper (mate)
• Informing the skipper of potentially dangerous situations
• Other tasks: derusting, sanding, painting and deck scrubbing

We are offering you:

• Our team is offering you SUPPORT and GUIDANCE, beginning with choosing the right job for you, helping you at your arrival in The Netherlands (accommodation, registration papers), and after that, throughout the entire time of our collaboration
• DUTCH EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT, regardless of the type of work that you are looking for (temporary or a career in The Netherlands)
• We are providing ACCOMMODATION (your own room, internet connection, and utilities). If you do not need the accommodation offered by us, or if you choose to move somewhere else in time, you will receive a housing allowance of 20 Euro/worked day, net, for a maximum of 5 days/week
• You can rent the car from us, and we give you a FUEL CARD. If you are using your own car, we are giving you a fuel allowance of 0.19 Euro/km, for each kilometre that exceeds a 10 km distance between accommodation and workplace
• If the job requires you to have a VCA certificate, we can help you by paying your exam
• Weekly wages, transferred into your account every Thursday
