Which welding methods are used in the Netherlands?
The most commonly used welding methods in the Netherlands are electrode welding, TIG and MIG/MAG.
Electrode welding
Electrode welding, electric welding or arc welding is a method in which the electrode is used as a welding consumable. It fuses from the torch to the material to be welded. This technique is used for all types of steel.
TIG welding
TIG welding is considered the most difficult technique because it takes both hands to be able to weld. The TIG welding technique is very precise and time-consuming, but it is considered the most beautiful technique.
MIG/MAG welding
The difference between MIG welding and MAG welding is only the type of shielding gas used: inert or active. The welding process is the same and that is why it is seen as a single technique. It is the fastest technique which makes it the most popular. MIG/MAG welding can also be automated with the help of a welding robot.
